The project has two elements:
- Creating awareness of the death toll on Maltese roads, which is dwarfing previous years, with the aim to improve road safety and;
- Providing a trauma service, to both individuals and families affected by traffic accident/injury.
The main objective of the awareness raising campaign is to improve road safety in Malta, preventing and decreasing road traffic injuries and deaths in the future.
The second part of the project will provide a voluntary service for members of the general public, through VSM, to both individuals and families traumatized by traffic accident and injury. VSM currently provides emotional support to assist victims in overcoming trauma following a crime. The service will be extended to those affected by traffic accidents, providing postvention support.
