Have you ever heard of “Surf Therapy”?

Surf Therapy, also known as surf and ocean therapy, is a form of therapy for people – mostly active duty Marines and veterans – with PTSD. The statics on PTSD are alarming: one in three combat troops report symptoms of PTSD, but only 40% seeks help. Josh Izenberg is on a mission to raise more awareness and inspire people with PTSD to explore the therapeutic benefits of being in and around water. This is because people with chronic PTSD and physical and psychological difficulties often lose interest in activities they used to do and enjoy. Surfing and being in and around the ocean gives a new sense of purpose and passion for life, and can alleviate the symptoms of PTSD.

Josh Izenberg, a surfer, has made a documentary about this kind of therapy: Resurface.
