What do you know about online abuse?

Online abuse is any type of abuse that happens online, on social networks, whilst playing online games, chatting or texting on the phone. Youths may experience cyberbullying, grooming, sexual abuse, sexual exploitation or emotional abuse.

Based on a recent research conducted in the UK, one in five 8 to 11 year olds and seven in ten 12 to 15 year olds has a social media profile. In addition, 1 in 4 children have experienced something upsetting on a social networking site. In 2015, more than  68,000 URLs containing child sexual abuse images were identified by the Internet Watch Foundation.
